Wesley Snipes was born on July 31, 1962 in Orlando, Florida to Marian and Wesley Rudolph Snipes. Her mother was a teaching assistant and her father was an aeronautical engineer. His father retired from the US Air Force with the rank of MSGT. Wesley also has a younger half-brother AD Snipes, a comedian living in San Antonio, Texas. Snipes began training in martial arts at the age of 12 and holds a black belt in several styles of karate. He is also trained in a number of other disciplines including kung fu, Brazilian jiu jitsu and kickboxing. As a young man, Snipes attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York and later graduated from Jones High School.
