Larry David’s early career and Seinfeld
Larry began his career as a stand-up comedian while also working as a store clerk, limousine driver, and historian. His living conditions were pretty poor and he lived alone in a government-subsidized housing complex in Manhattan Plaza. In 1984, he became a writer for NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL), where he met fellow actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who would go on to play Elaine on Seinfeld).
David met Jerry Seinfeld and both created The Seinfeld Chronicles, a pilot for NBC that was soon adapted into a Seinfeld show. Seinfeld went on to become one of the highest-grossing series in history and was included in TV Guide’s list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. For his work, David has been nominated 19 times for an Emmy Award, winning once for best comedy and once for screenplay.
