Biography of Al Roker
Al Roker was born on August 20, 1954 in the borough of Queens, New York, to Isabel and Albert Lincoln Roker Sr. Their father was a bus driver and their family of parents and three children had very little money as a child. However, according to Roker’s words, the family was very happy and content and lived together very happily. Roker originally wanted to be a cartoonist but later attended the State University of New York to receive a BA in communications.

Roker married early but later divorced and remarried WNBC producer Alice Bell in 1984. The couple adopted a little girl together. Roker and Bell also divorced, and Roker married television journalist Deborah Roberts in 1995. They are the parents of daughter Leila and son Nicholas.

Brief career history
While in college, Roker began working as a weather anchor for WHEN-TV in Syracuse (an affiliate of the CBS network). He was also a DJ at the campus radio station. After graduating, Roker moved to Washington, DC and took a job as a weather commentator with independent broadcaster WTTG. His NBC career began in 1978 when he was hired at WKYC in Cleveland.
Roker gained further attention after appearing on an episode of the talk show Late Night with David Letterman, eventually earning him Weekend Today’s forecaster.
